A visit from my Mommy

I had a really busy morning....... getting up late, getting everyone ready, was suppose to take some family members to the airport, but my husband nicely offered to do that for me, so I had a little more time to get things accomplished.  My mom was coming, so I was trying to clean the house, get Lauren off to school, Joshua off to preschool (he didn't make it), and then I drove to my Dr office to obtain copies of some trouble-some labs... so I could do my own research prior to my follow up with her.  Then raced back home, went to the gym where "Olga" was in a "special" mood, and we got to banter back and forth---which was quite fun and made the time go by much quicker..... Then to the grocery store to stalk up, and then my Mom came to visit us for a couple of days---which is really nice.  She brought a ton of old pictures and school stuff for me to sort through and we had a good time reminiscing.  I was kind of afraid when she had warned me she was bringing up stuff.... my mom is notorious for keeping everything and I am for throwing everything away.  She has OFTEN gone through a bag I have deemed as garbage and said "What about this, you can use this" etc... so when she said she was bringing up stuff I was like "when you are leaving???? Garbage day is Wednesday".  Perhaps you have to hear the context and tones used when I said it because it was actually funny.  BUT, she was a good girl and didn't bring up much useless stuff, and it will be nice to show my husband and kids pictures of passed loved ones and such.  So, thanks Mom.

Anyway, we also went out to dinner.... Red Robin, yummmmmm.  But, the service wasn't that great---forgotten silverware and napkins, requests ignored... and the server, trying to be all sly, spilled Ice Tea in my mom's purse.  However, the kids were really good, the food fine, and it was entertainment.

So, now, the kids are finally in bed, my mom has a sleeping partner whether she wanted it or not (Lauren), and we are all snuggled in for a good nights sleep.

I must admit, that even though I am all grown up, it is nice to have my Mom just downstairs.  If I want a hug, I go get one..... if I want to ask a question, I just climb down a few stairs..... If a burglar breaks in my house, she will hear it and save me! :-)  It is all super cool.

Oh and as per a quote from my mom:  "Heather, have you ever watched Hard-Core Porn........ PAWN PAWN PAWN..... I mean Hard Core PAWN".  Sure you did mom, sure you did.  The old lady's mind is the gutter!

Heather
